Carrier Oils Guide: Coconut, Jojoba & Sweet Almond
Understanding your botanical foundation. Each carrier oil has unique properties that affect absorption, shelf life, and skin compatibility.

Carrier oils are your essential oils' best friends. They "carry" the essential oil onto your skin while diluting it to safe levels. But choosing the right carrier oil is an art in itself.
Fractionated Coconut Oil
Liquid at room temperature, almost no scent, absorbs well, very long shelf life. "Fractionated" means the fatty acids that would make it solid have been removed. This is my everyday favorite.
Jojoba Oil
Technically a liquid wax, not an oil. Remarkably similar to your skin's natural sebum, making it excellent for facial products. Long shelf life and works for all skin types.
Sweet Almond Oil
A classic choice—light, nourishing, absorbs well. Rich in vitamin E. Great for massage blends. Has a mild, slightly sweet scent. Note: avoid if you have nut allergies.
Choosing the Right One
- For face: Jojoba (mimics skin's oils)
- For body/massage: Sweet almond or coconut
- For long-lasting products: Fractionated coconut (longest shelf life)
- For sensitive skin: Jojoba or fractionated coconut
